Boomerang User FAQ’s
How to Download and become registered on the Boomerang app?
It’s easy and only takes a couple minutes. Just download the Boomerang Bikes app through the Apple Store or Google Play and sign up for an account. We may require your email, phone number, and a credit card.
Where can I check out or rent a Boomerang ebike?
All Boomerang ebikes are privately owned by a property or a business. They are generally located somewhere on or near the premises of the property or business. Only people associated with the property or business are able to check out or rent a bike. Please ask your property manager or business representative for further details.
How do I unlock a Boomerang ebike and start my ride?
- Identify a Boomerang ebike that’s available and using your Boomerang app, scan one of the two QR codes on the bike (located by the top headtube of the bike as well as behind the rider’s seat). Then swipe to unlock the bike.
- Quickly remove the charging plug from the right side of the bike. After removing the plug, simply reverse the bike out and enjoy your ride.
- Sounds are normal. You can expect to hear the bike unlock with a couple of beeps followed by the charging port unlocking with a deep grating sound.
- If you hear that sound a second time and the charging plug has not already been removed, it will automatically relock to the bike. If this occurs, simply end your ride and then restart it and make sure to remove the charging plug.
How do I pause my ride?
- Using your Boomerang app simply swipe the pause button to the right to pause your ride and engage the rear wheel lock and bike alarm. ALWAYS follow this step when stopping or parking your bike.
- An additional lock is located on the front of your Boomerang ebike. The lock code can be found in your Boomerang app. ALWAYS use this lock when pausing your ride and parking your bike.
Where can I park my Boomerang ebike?
- Be respectful to others and do not block pedestrians right of way. Always park, pause and lock your bike at a designated bike rack or secure area.
- NOTE: it is safest not to leave your Boomerang ebike unattended for extended periods. ALWAYS pause and lock your bike when parking it anywhere.
How do I end my ride?
- All rides can only end at the original place of check out. Simply push the front wheel of your Boomerang bike into one of the available docking stations. Then, you must connect the charging cord to the bike (both cord and plug will be on the right side of the bike). The bike must be locked to the charging plug before ending your ride.
- Once your device is locked in the appropriate parking area, swipe the slider on the Boomerang App screen from left to right to end your ride. The app will automatically stop and provide you with a trip summary.
Do I need an access code to ride a Boomerang ebike?
Yes. Access codes are necessary to use the bikes. Access codes are private and only available to people associated with the property or business that the Boomerang ebikes belong to. Please ask your property manager or business representative for further details.
Does it cost money to ride a Boomerang ebike?
Some Boomerang ebikes are free to ride while others may come with a user fee. Please ask your property manager or business representative for further details.
Do I get a ride receipt?
- You can see all your ride receipts in the ‘Ride History’ tab in the app menu.
- You will receive a ride receipt in your email. Feel free to rate your experience, we know it’ll be great!
How old do I have to be to ride a Boomerang ebike?
All Boomerang ebikes require riders to be a minimum of 18 years of age.
How Fast does the Boomerang ebike go?
Your Boomerang ebike motor will get you up to 15mph. It’s possible the bike can go faster than this using your own pedal power or when riding downhill. You can control your speed using your PAS 1-3 level controls or by using the twist throttle.
What are the two options for power when riding a Boomerang ebike?
- First with a pedal assist – The motor provides power the moment you begin pedaling. They take off quickly so be aware of your surroundings. There are three levels of pedal assist with level 1 reaching 5 mph, level 2 reaching 10mph and level 3 reaching 15mph, riders can simply press the + button located by the left grip to increase or decrease levels as you choose.
- Second is with the twist throttle – The throttle can only be activated after the bike is in motion or going a min of 2mph. Using the twist throttle located on the right grip riders can twist it towards themselves in order to control their speed and effortlessly ride without having to pedal the bike.
How far can a Boomerang ebike go on a full battery?
Riding range is dependent on a number of factors including the level of power you ride on, weather conditions, road conditions, rider size, age of the battery and other factors. Most riders can expect an approximate range of 30 miles, while others may experience more or less.
How long can I use a Boomerang ebike for in a day?
All time parameters are set by the private property or business that own the bikes. Please ask your property manager or business representative for further details.
Do I need a helmet?
The Boomerang app does require riders to wear helmets. Please ask your property manager or business representative for further details.
Why can’t I unlock a Boomerang Bike?
- Does the app show that the vehicle is under maintenance? If so, we suggest trying to unlock another available bike.
- Did the bike turn on, but the charging plug remained locked to it? If so, you may need to end your ride and then start a new ride on the same bike. Make sure to remove the charging plug after hearing the grating sound of it being unlocked. If the bike remains locked, we suggest trying to unlock another available bike.
- Is the app asking you to check your Internet connection? If so, please make sure your Bluetooth is turned on and that you are connected to data or using a strong WIFI signal. Following these steps, please try again.
- If none of these approaches seem to work, please visit the ‘Help’ page in the app to get in contact with a Boomerang support team member so we can assist further.
Does the Boomerang ebike come with a lock?
- Yes, all Boomerang ebikes have 3 different security devices built in to keep your bike safe when you’re out riding.
- Wheel lock – Prevents the bike from being ridden by anyone other than you.
- Alarm lock – Motion sensing alarm designed to deter people from trying to move the bike.
- Chain or Cable lock – Allowing riders to lock their bikes to a bike rack further securing along with the other locks that are all engaged when pausing your ride.
- When a chain lock is provided, the combination can be found on the home screen of your app once you have started your ride.
What happens if I don’t return my Boomerang ebike on time?
All time parameters are set by the private property or business that own the bikes. There is generally a fine for late or unreturned bikes. Any bike not returned within 24 hours of check is considered missing or stolen and may be the responsibility of the rider to cover any associated costs. Please ask your property manager or business representative for further details.
Are passengers allowed?
- NO. All Boomerang ebikes are for single riders only.
- If riders are found to have had a passenger there may be fines and discontinuation of access.
Can I let someone else ride the Boomerang ebike I have checked out?
NO. All Boomerang ebikes are only to be used by the person whose information is registered through the Boomerang app and is associated with the property or business that owns them. Please ask your property manager or business representative for further details.
What happens if there is an accident when riding?
- If an accident were to occur, rider should prioritize their well-being and seek medical attention if needed. Once safe and able, rider should promptly report the incident to Boomerang Fleets.
- Ultimately, it is the rider’s responsibility to return the bike to the property or arrange for its return if they are unable to do so themselves.
What happens if the bike gets stolen?
In the event a bike were to be stolen while in use, rider should first prioritize their well-being and seek medical attention if needed. Once safe and able, rider should report the incident immediately to Boomerang Fleets.
How do I report issues?
- We do our best to ensure all our ebikes are in top condition at all times. Please visually inspect the ebike before starting your trip and do not check out or ride it if you notice any damages that may seem to render it risky to ride. Instead please report it to us through the app support along with the ebike ID number located on the QR code sticker..
- If you have already activated your ebike, let Boomerang support know immediately if you feel some issues with the ride. Contact us through the Help tab on the Boomerang app or via Support@Boomerangfleets.com and we will address it as quickly as possible.
